Xerox’s OmniX Review Platform Now Supported on All Operating Systems and Browsers
Availability of industry-leading OmniX platform on Mac OS, Linux and other leading operating systems and browsers provides users with greater flexibility in managing e-discovery
ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 29, 2012 – Xerox Litigation Services, the e-discovery division of Xerox (NYSE: XRX), today announced that users now have the option of accessing its proprietary document review platform, OmniX™, on any operating system or browser. The platform will continue to run on PC-based Microsoft Windows, and also will be supported on Mac OS and Linux, as well as on tablets and mobile devices such as the iPad, iPhone and Android.
The availability of OmniX using any platform gives end users greater flexibility in how they manage their e-discovery projects. It also lessens the burden on IT staff, which is often tasked with creating and managing customized desktop environments that meet vendor-specific software configuration and licensing requirements, while adhering to local information security standards. The any-platform solution addresses these challenges by moving configuration and licensing into the cloud.
“This is a significant development for our clients,” said Paul Matthews, Xerox Litigation Services’ CTO. “The market has accepted viable alternatives to traditional operating systems and browsers, and more and more, corporations and law firms are demanding that technology keep pace with their computing systems being utilized to manage mission-critical parts of the business - including e-discovery. Now, clients are able to cull through, search, analyze and review case-specific documents using OmniX’s complete functionality, full security features and intuitive user interface on the operating system, browser or device of choice.”
While many e-discovery review tools are now purely browser-based, typically running on PC-based Windows operating systems, many law firms and corporate legal departments have either locked down environments or older configurations that make supporting technology that runs on a single system difficult. A growing percentage are also supplementing Windows operating systems with devices such as the iPad, or transitioning to alternative systems altogether. According to a recent Forrester report, almost 50 percent of large enterprises now issue Macs to some employees, and another 27 percent of companies are supporting the iPad, with another 31 percent looking into supporting it (Forrester Research, Inc., Apple Infiltrates The Enterprise and Reshapes The Markets For Personal Devices at Work, January 2012).
The availability of OmniX on any platform now enables Xerox Litigation Services to offer clients a more flexible range of solutions based on their needs. Xerox recently acquired Lateral Data and its all-in-one Viewpoint software, which is available as a hosted on-premise application.
This optional functionality is available immediately, at no additional cost to users.
