Xerox Unveils CategoriX; Makes E-Discovery Faster, More Accurate and Cost Effective

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 5, 2009 – Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) is making legal document review faster and more accurate than ever with CategoriX, a new technology that uses input from the legal team to automatically classify documents, reducing the amount of material requiring manual review.

CategoriX allows attorneys to fine tune classification requirements as they uncover new case information – increasing the accuracy of the document review process. The tool also detects when two similar documents appear in different categories, prompting the legal team to take a closer look to ensure consistency.

“The sheer volume of content associated with large scale legal reviews is growing dramatically, often resulting in a trade off between review speed and accuracy,” said Vivian Tero, program manager for GRC Infrastructure, IDC. “Solutions like Xerox Litigation Services' CategoriX combine technology with the attorney expertise in the document review process with the intended outcome of enabling more consistency, faster review times and lower attorney review costs."

CategoriX, developed at Xerox Research Centre Europe, is one of many innovations that simplify time-consuming work processes, such as legal discovery. The technology is the latest enhancement to the Xerox Litigation Services’ e-discovery platform and is supported by additional tools that streamline the analysis of legal documentation.
