Search
Specifying searches
Selecting folders/binders
To search within a particular folder in the file cabinet, click the Add folder link, navigate to a folder in the left frame, and click the Add folder selection button. Individual files are not shown in the search folder chooser. Additional folders may be chosen by repeating this process.
To search within a binder, click the Add binder link. In the left selection box, pick the user owning the binder to be searched, and in the right box choose the binder itself. Click Add binder selection to place this binder in the search form. As with folders, multiple binders may be searched at once.
Both folders and binders may be searched at once; the search will return documents which are located in the selected folder(s) and which have also been added to the selected binder(s).

Searching metadata

Working with search results
Refining searches
After running a search, the query can be modified to produce a more manageable list of results. Additional criteria are entered in a new copy of the search form in the right panel. A search may be modified any number of times, to produce just the results desired.
Narrow: adds criteria for filtering the existing results list, reducing its size
Broaden: adds alternative criteria to the original query, increasing the size of the results list
Exclude: adds criteria for removing results from the existing list, reducing its size
Saving search criteria
Enter a label for the search in the text box and click Save; the search criteria can be called up again for a new run by choosing the name from the Load saved search dropdown in the right panel. Note: the save tool does not currently work in combination with Narrow, Broaden, and Exclude.
Saving search results
Select a binder into which to save search results from the Existing binder dropdown, or enter a name and description for a new binder in the New binder form fields. Add all results puts the complete list of search results into the desired binder; alternately, use the selection tools at the top of the results list to pick a subset of results, and click Add selected results to copy them into a binder.
Binders
Binder tools
Search binder: opens search form with current binder selected as binder to search
Delete this binder: removes binder from list
Change binder name/description: changes binder name, description, or public/private status
Delete all files in this binder: clears all files from binder, leaving the empty binder behind
Manipulate checkboxes
Use these tools to select files for deleting, copying, moving, et cetera.
Document actions
Perform the specified actions on either all files in a binder or only the selected files.
Highlighting/ordering
Documents can be highlighted according to whether they have been reviewed in a particular channel; reviewed documents are listed in orange text. Documents in a binder can also be sorted by certain metadata fields.
File list
Documents can be selected individually with the checkboxes next to their names. Page counts are given after the file names, and if metadata sorting is turned on, the appropriate metadata field is displayed as well. Individual documents can be removed from the binder using the [Delete] links by their names.
Move/copy checked documents
Select the target binder from the dropdown on the right, and click the appropriate button to move or copy some or all documents from one binder to another.
Other
Create a new binder: creates a new binder at the top level
Create sub-binder: creates a child binder belonging to the current binder
Add directory to binder: opens a file cabinet chooser and allows the files in a particular folder to be added to the current binder
Compare Binders
The contents of two binders may be compared to produce lists of files common to both, or exclusive to a single binder. Click Compare binders in the left panel of the binder viewer; select the desired comparison, the binders to compare, and a third binder where the comparison results will be sent. Matching documents are copied into the target binder for review.
